This year is really flying by! Today is the first day of the second trimester! Thanksgiving is approaching quickly and before we know it we will be thinking about the last few weeks of the school year! Report cards go out this Friday, November 14th, so please make sure you check your child's folders.

On Monday we will be reading "A Big Job" and Wednesday we will read the second story, "Sweet Potato Pie". Please remember to not read ahead!!!!

I hope that everyone is well rested after the Halloween weekend. I'm sure dentist visits are right around the corner. This Friday also brings us to then end of the first trimester. Report cards will be going out next Friday! Can you believe we are done with a third of the school year? I heard on the radio this morning, that we just finished with Halloween and there's only about 50 days left until Christmas! This time of the year really flies by.

On Monday we will be reading "Jog, Frog, Jog" and Wednesday we will read the second story, "Tadpole to Frog". Please remember to not read ahead!!!!

It is really starting to feel more like winter out there than fall. Please make sure that your child is dressing appropriately for the weather. On Wednesday for Gym, please make sure that your child wears sweat pants and not just shorts.

On Monday we will be reading "Fish Mix” and Wednesday we will read the second story, “How Many Fish”. Please remember to not read ahead!!!!

We will be finish working on the Short i sound and the final x sound this week.

In Math, we will begin Chapter 3 this week. This Chapter is beginning Addition and Subtraction concepts. We will begin addition flashcards soon. This will be a nightly assignment.

This Friday is HALLOWEEN! A letter went home several weeks ago explaining the party we will have that day. It also informed you of what supply your child is supposed to bring in. If you do not remember what your supply is, please send a note to school with your child and I will let you know. These supplies need to be turned in on Wednesday. Thank you for all your help with this!

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend. It really feels like Fall now, so don’t forget those sweaters!

For the week ahead:

On Monday we will be reading “What Did I See?” And on Wednesday we will begin reading the second story, “I Went Walking”. Please remember to not read ahead!!!!

In Math we will be finishing Chapter 2 this week. Wednesday we will be reviewing everything that we learned in this chapter. There will be a quiz on Thursday and then a Chapter Test on Friday. The quiz on Thursday will help the students with the test on Friday. If your child made some mistakes on Thursday’s quiz please make sure to study that quiz with your child that night.

As the weather gets cooler please remember to dress your child appropriately for the weather. We would like to take the children out for recess in the afternoon. If some children do not have sweaters or coats we will not be able to go out. So please make sure your child has something to wear when it’s cold out.

I hope everyone enjoyed the Sports filled weekend. Even though I was quite disappointed with the Cubs, at least the other two Chicago teams won some games! Like we say every year, Cubs will win it next year!

Thank you to all that attended Open House yesterday. I was really nice to see you all there. The kids really loved showing you all the things they have been working hard on these first few weeks of school.

I hope the rain didn't keep you from Fisher Fest! What a weekend!!!

This week is pretty calm for the moment.
Friday is PICTURE DAY! Please remember to have your child dressed and ready for pictures when they come to school. They say bright colors and black will work best. White is not a recommended color.

We are continuing this week with our theme of "Our Family Market" and we will be reading the mini book called "I Like to Hop!"

This week we will be working on the Short O sound. Please continue to review the other sounds we have studied so far at home. (Short a and i.)

We will also be working on the letters h, d, and k.

Welcome to our first full week of school! Can you believe it's our 3rd week already? This week will be a crazy week because of Fisher Fest, but we will do our best to get through it.

I hope you all had a wonderful, long Labor Day weekend!

There is not too much going on this week in school. If you ordered milk for your child that has started this week.
On Friday there is a Welcome Back to School Mass at 1:00.

This week the students will be bringing home another mini book "Can Pig Nap?". Please remember to practice reading this book at home and practicing the sight words that go along with the story. The students will be tested on the words again on Friday. Also, please remember to send the book back to school everyday in the ziploc bag. The ziploc bag helps protect the book when it goes back and forth from home and school. We use the book in class and I do not have another copy to give to every student.
